Travel Plans
Big changes are on the horizon for my Fjällräven Classic plans. The itinerary is evolving, the gear list is growing, and the countdown is officially on. In this update, I’m sharing some of the latest details on where I’m heading, what I’m prepping, and what this next stretch of planning looks like.
I’ve confirmed my flights to Stockholm, and I’m excited to visit for the first time. Unfortunately, I’ll only be in the city for one night, but I’ll have a full Sunday to explore. I’m planning to see a few highlights, including the Vasa Museum.

The entire museum is dedicated to a preserved 17th-century ship, and I imagine it will deserve its own blog post once I’ve been.
I’m also open to suggestions on other must-see spots around town, so feel free to share your favorites.
For the journey north, I’ve booked the night train to Kiruna. It’s especially popular during Northern Lights season, but I think it will still be a beautiful way to take in the Swedish countryside. There’s some track work happening during my travel window, so I had to book an earlier departure than I’d hoped. That just gives me one more reason to plan a return trip to Stockholm in the future.
If you’re curious about what the train experience is like, there’s a great walkthrough from Simply Railway on YouTube. And yes, I might be a little crazy, but I booked a seat instead of a cabin for this trip. We’ll see if I regret that choice.
Once I arrive in Kiruna, I’m set up at the Scandic hotel for a few days. That time will include trek prep meetings and some social events with other hikers. After the hike, I’m planning two nights near Abisko to decompress and take in the Arctic surroundings. From there, I’ll head to Narvik to wrap up the trip.
Training Update
Lately, I’ve been alternating between two weighted vests during treadmill sessions. One is from MTN Ops and the other is by 5.11 Tactical, but both were created by Sentry Tactical. I’ll have a full gear review on those coming soon.

This past weekend also included a hike at Whiteoak Canyon in Shenandoah National Park. It was a great way to check in on my fitness level, and I lucked out with perfect weather and an empty trail. A full trail report will be up soon.

More good news to come soon!
